On 10 January 2027 Jamie applies to the Federal Police for an extension. The extension is granted through 6 May 2027, which stays inside the 180-day ceiling measured from the 8 November 2026 start of the 12-month span.
A second entry later in 2027 only works if enough days remain in that 12-month window and officers admit Jamie again. Track both the per-entry end date and the 180-day total.
Extensions through the Federal Police
Brazil's government service page Prorrogar Estada como Turista no Brasil lets visitors request a tourist stay extension, subject to the visa regime of their nationality. The published fee for the extension request (GRU, revenue code 140090) is listed as R$ 110,44. You generally need a valid travel document, proof of the fee, and any extra evidence the officer asks for (lodging, funds, return ticket).
Do not wait until the final days. If the extension is refused, you must leave by the original end date.
GOV.UK adds: if you overstay, you face a daily fine. You can pay that fine when you leave Brazil or during your next visit.
Passport stamps, validity, and entry checks
Stamps. GOV.UK says to make sure the border officer puts a stamp in your passport. If it is not stamped, you may be fined when you leave.
Passport validity. GOV.UK says your passport must have an expiry date at least 6 months after the date you arrive. Onward plans. An outbound ticket is not mandatory for British tourists, but officers may ask about itinerary, lodging, and funds. Business visitors should carry an invitation letter.
Admission is still decided at the border even when you are visa-exempt.
Longer stays and remote work
Visitor status is not a residence permit. Longer stays need temporary visas, work authorization, study routes, or other residence products. Confirm the current category on official sites before relying on it.
